The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) women’s tennis team defeated the Florida Gators 4-1, Friday afternoon in the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament at Chewning Tennis Center. The win over Florida set a new single-season home hit record, with 18 home wins during the 2023 outdoor campaign.
The Tar Heels will face the winner of Texas and Pepperdine in the NCAA Quarterfinals, Wednesday, May 17 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. After falling 3-6 on the doubles two court, Reese Brantmeier and Reilly Tran won 6-3 on court three to enforce a doubles decision on court one.
After a back and forth battle, Fiona Crawley and Abbey Forbes fell 6-7. Florida entered singles with a 1-0 lead. Down 0-1, the Tar Heels started singles on missions. Reese Brantmeier dominated court one, winning 6-3, 6-1 and drawing match one apiece.
It was followed by a win by Reily Tran on court five to give North Carolina their first lead of the night. The Tar Heels capped off the Gators’ season with back-to-back wins by Anika Yarlagadda and Fiona Crawley on courts six and one.
Carson Tanguilig and Elizabeth Scotty’s games went unfinished.

About the UNC
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, also known as UNC, is a public university in Chapel Hill in the US state of North Carolina.
