Tsitsipas praises Courier’s work in tennis broadcasting
For many years, Courier has been conducting on-court interviews at the Australian Open.
At this year’s Australian Open, Tsitsipas enjoyed his best-ever run at Melbourne Park as the Greek made the final this year. During his Australian Open run, Tsitsipas had the pleasure of being interviewed on-court by Courier.
Unfortunately for Tsitsipas, he didn’t manage to win his first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open as he was beaten by Novak Djokovic in the final. Had Tsitsipas defeated Djokovic, he would have become a Grand Slam champion and also reached the world No 1 spot for the first time in his career.
But after losing the Australian Open final, Tsitsipas refused to be negative as he declared himself “a born champion.” “It’s my time to aim for something like this. I don’t see any reason to be lowering my expectations or my goals.
I am born a champion. I can feel it in my blood. I can feel it as a competitive kid that I was when I was young. It’s something that is within me. I want to harvest that, make it bloom, make it even stronger and fonder, work hard towards those goals.
It’s that beautiful number, the number ‘1’, that will make things extremely emotional when converting that,” Tsitsipas said in his post-final press conference.
