Stan Wawrinka seemingly sarcastically responded to a fan that suggested that the Swiss “should just give a walkover Jannik Sinner because he has no chance against the Italian.” On Friday, Wawrinka will be facing Sinner in the Rotterdam quarterfinal.
Through its Twitter account, Tennis TV asked fans to pick the winner of the match. “Wawrinka should just default loss and save his energy for next tourney lol. He has no chance,” one fan tweeted. Wawrinka noticed the tweet and responded: “I will get a lesson for free at least (winking face emoji).”

Wawrinka leads the head-to-head against Sinner
So far, it has been a very good week for Wawrinka on the indoor-hard courts of Rotterdam.
In the Rotterdam first round, Wawrinka claimed a 7-6 (5) 6-4 win over Alexander Bublik. After ousting Bublik, Wawrinka claimed another straight-set win against Richard Gasquet 6-3 6-3. Wawrinka has been playing well this week and he enters the Sinner match without a set lost.
On the other side, Sinner has also been good so far this week. In the first round, Sinner was pushed into a three-setter but he didn’t allow Benjamin Bonzi to upset him as he beat the Frenchman 6-2 3-6 6-1. Tonight, Sinner delivered a big performance against Stefanos Tsitsipas as he ousted the top-seeded Greek 6-4 6-3.
Going into the Rotterdam quarterfinal, both Wawrinka and Sinner are certainly feeling well about their tennis. When Wawrinka and Sinner meet in Rotterdam, it will be their fourth meeting. At the 2019 US Open, Wawrinka claimed a four-set win in his first meeting against Sinner.
Later that same year in Antwerp, Wawrinka ousted Sinner in Antwerp. At Wimbledon last year, Sinner clinched his first win over Wawrinka as he defeated the Swiss in four sets. Wawrinka has won two of his first three meetings against Sinner and he certainly knows how to beat the Italian. It remains to be seen if Wawrinka can beat Sinner and make his first semifinal of the year.
