Novak Djokovic has confirmed that he is getting back to feeling fully healthy and revealed he intends to compete at the Dubai Free Tennis Championships next week. Also, Djokovic revealed he still hasn’t received an answer from the United States regarding his request to be granted a special permission to enter the US for the Masters events in Indian Wells and Miami.

Djokovic, 35, suffered a hamstring injury at the Adelaide International. Djokovic is still not feeling fully healthy but he is progressing extremely well, and with that being said, he plans to return to action next week.

“The injury is fixed, I’m getting close to 100 percent, things are looking very good and as a team we made the decision to go to Dubai. I’m traveling tomorrow and I’ll do my best to go as far as possible. Ambitions are the highest in every tournament.

As for the plans after that – I don’t know, it depends on the situation with America. I’m still waiting for an answer, I’d like to, I’m also preparing for a tour there, but we’ll see how things go in the next two weeks,” Djokovic said.

Djokovic plans to play Dubai, still uncertain about Indian Wells, Miami

As an unvaccinated foreigner, Djokovic cannot enter the United States. But Djokovic would like to compete at the Sunshine Double and he requested a special permission to enter the US.

Recently, Indian Wells tournament director Tommy Haas publicly supported Djokovic. “It would be nice to see if we could maybe lift those a little earlier and have him come to play Indian Wells and Miami. I think he wants to play, so we should give him the chance.

Hopefully, we can have him there. I mean, it would be a disgrace in my eyes if he wasn’t coming to these events, or not allowed to come,” Haas said recently.
