‘I don’t think I’ve even been able to…’

Coach Patrick Mouratoglou has declared Serena Williams the greatest player of all time in women’s tennis. As for men’s tennis, Mouratoglou isn’t ready to make his choice as he apparently still wants to see how the Grand Slam race between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will end.

For a decade, Mouratoglou was Williams’ coach. During their time together, Mouratoglou established himself as one of the best coaches in the sport. “Serena in women’s tennis and still tbd (to be determined) in men’s,” Mouratoglou tweeted.

Mouratoglou talks about how he taught Williams to ‘think like Serena again’ 2017 and the 2017 French Open. Mouratoglou realized that her loss to Vinci took its toll on Williams and she did everything she could to get the American back to her usual frame of mind.

“I taught Serena Williams to think like Serena again. She had forgotten. She lost the US Open semifinal against Roberta Vinci and that had a huge impact on her. She though is a loss having won four Grand Slams in a row, and she was through to the semifinal of the fifth.

Then she is in the Roland Garros final, playing very poorly and the previous losses continue to have an impact. She can reach the final, since she has tennis and physical qualities, but to win a final she needs a specific mentality.

Serena didn’t have it. So I had to connect it to itself. I will never forget the 30 minutes before the Roland Garros final. I said, ‘You’ve forgotten who you are, I need to remind you, so sit down. I’m going to tell you your story ‘I tell her about her life.

So that she would realize how strong she is and that everything always depends on her. I don’t use those exact words, but I’m telling you in a way that sounds familiar to you. I tell myself: ‘she’s done, I’ve won, she’s going to enter the track and destroy her'”

New details on Serena Williams

“I am a happy person.

I love to laugh, I’m passionate about being happy and I love to crack jokes,” says Serena Williams. I love bringing that into my life. In such a physically demanding race that requires as much dedication as mine, athletes need time to relax and enjoy themselves”, explained the youngest of the Williams.

“As athletes, we do so many things and work so hard, that sometimes I’m guilty of not always enjoying titles and things like that. Although I will definitely start playing golf when I have time, hopefully very soon! I love to read, but since I got Olympia I don’t think I’ve even been able to read a book.

I love going to the movies, it’s what I like the most. It helps me to disconnect”, confessed Serena Williams.
