Daniil Medvedev will compete in his fifth Major final and the third in New York! Daniil dethroned world no. 1 Carlos Alcaraz 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in three hours and 19 minutes at Arthur Ashe Stadium, setting a thrilling title clash versus Novak Djokovic.
The 2021 US Open champion claimed the opener in the tie break and gained a boost, storming over the young gun in set number two. Carlos recovered his game in the third, reducing the deficit before hitting the exit door with a single break suffered in the fourth set.
Medvedev fired nine aces and ten double faults. He scored the victory behind his first serve, dominating with it and defending eight out of nine break chances! Alcaraz faced seven break points and lost serve four times, ending his campaign in the semi-final and losing the ATP throne to Djokovic.
Both players had more winners than unforced errors, and the Russian claimed 20 points more than the Spaniard, taking charge in the crucial moments and securing a place in the title clash.

Daniil survived deuces in the second game and two break points in the fourth to remain on the positive side and lock the result at 2-2. They both served well in the remaining games, introducing a tie break after 50 minutes.
Medvedev moved 3-2 in front with a massive forehand winner before bringing Alcaraz to 3-3. The Russian grabbed two mini-breaks at 4-3, creating two set points and seizing the first with a forehand down the line winner for 7-6 after 56 minutes.
Daniil was the only player on the court in the second set, serving well and keeping the pressure on the other side. The Russian broke in the second game and created more break chances two games later. Alcaraz denied them before losing serve again in game six after Medvedev’s incredible backhand.Daniil held at 30 in game seven, wrapping up the set 6-1 and building a massive advantage after an hour and 33 minutes.
Alcaraz stepped in in the third set, serving well and keeping the pressure on the other side. He broke the Russian with a lob winner and opened a 3-1 gap. The young gun fired a service winner in the ninth game to clinch the set and extend his chances.
