Boris Becker congratulated Novak Djokovic on equaling Steffi Graff for the most weeks spent at the world No 1 spot. This Monday, Djokovic entered his 377th week at the top spot. Next Monday, Djokovic will be the first player in tennis history to be spending a 378th week at the world No 1 spot.

Becker shared the post of Djokovic equaling Graf and wrote: “Congratulations.”

Just a couple of days earlier, Becker spoke extremely highly of Djokovic and expressed his gratitude to the Serb.

While Djokovic was serving his jail time, Djokovic reached out to him and his family. “Novak Djokovic became a family member. You know we had a professional relationship for many years and we parted ways in 2016. But we always stayed close and especially my time inside (prison) — he supported me, he supported my family,” Becker said.

Becker, Alexander Zverev congratulate Djokovic

This week in Doha, German tennis star Zverev was asked about Djokovic tying the record of German tennis icon Graf. Zverev admitted he liked the fact that a German tennis player was holding the record but also congratulated Djokovic on his major feat.

“Djokovic has completely dominated tennis in the last 10, 12 years. There’s a reason why he’s been at the top of this sport consistently. That’s something that shows with this record, being the player with the most weeks as number one in history, whether male or female.

He’s going to beat Steffi: as a German, I liked that she had the record, but congratulations to Novak. I’m sure he’s going to break more records, really. I don’t know if there are still too many to break, but the ones that are left, maybe I’ll break them,” Zverev said.

Djokovic kicked off his 2023 season by winning the Australian Open and returning to the world No 1 spot. Even though Djokovic is nearly 36, he is still a very dominant figure in tennis.
